Project Overview

A Deep Water Port (or deep-sea / deep-water seaport) is a port that has sufficiently deep draft (i.e. depth of water) to allow very large vessels with high deadweight tonnage (DWT) to dock safely without needing to lighten their load. These ports often require deep navigation channels, large turning basins, strong breakwaters, and substantial infrastructure for loading/unloading, storage, multimodal connectivity (roads, rails), etc.

Project Objectives

  • Increase the combined cargo handling capacity by 425 MTPA across participating ports
  • Reduce average vessel turnaround time by 40%
  • Implement digital port management systems at all major ports
  • Develop dedicated freight corridors connecting ports to industrial clusters
  • Enhance port connectivity through road, rail, and inland waterway improvements
